‘Alexander McQueen’s parting gift to the fashion world was his Fall/Winter 2010 collection. It showed in small presentations to groups of about ten editors at a time on March 9, 2010, and had the somber feel of a requiem to a great artist fallen rather than a showcase of fashion design. Staged in the private gilded salons of Paris’ Hotel de Clermont-Tonnerre, the presentations were a highly private affair - a goodbye. Only sixteen pieces were shown, which were 80% complete at the time of McQueen’s death.
